Mardi Gras Tomorrow

By October 8, 2018 No Comments

The 22nd Annual Mardi Gras Street Festival takes place tomorrow, Saturday August the 7th from 11am until 5pm. The Downtown Kelowna Association invites everyone in the community to join in the free, family fun at Mardi Gras.  This will be a very energetic day complete with adult and kid’s entertainment. Bernard Avenue will be closed to traffic for the day, beginning at 7am.  Parking is free at the Chapman and Library Parades on Saturdays and Sundays.

Jennifer Batey, Downtown Kelowna Association Events Coordinator, is looking forward to seeing Bernard Ave host upwards of 15,000 people at the festivities. “This year’s DKA Mardi Gras promises to be another amazing event for us.  There are 2 stages of live entertainment throughout the day, a huge kid’s zone with a climbing wall and bouncy castle, roaming street performers & buskers, a giant sidewalk sale, food vendors and much more.  We’ve been working hard since last fall to make this an excellent day for families and our businesses alike.”

We invite you to Mardi Gras on Bernard Ave tomorrow!

There will be all kinds of live concerts as part of Mardi Gras, including Taiko drummers, a Caribbean band, local singer-songwriters, Surf-rock music, and much more. Should be a ton of fun, so see you at Mardi Gras!

On another note, the Downtown Kelowna Association’s Biz Patrol are doing a great job of helping people find their way around downtown. They are stationed at the end of Bernard Ave daily (by the sails) and you’ll see them in their bright yellow shirts. Not only are they doing a great job in person, they are also making some excellent videos that promote the downtown businesses on YouTube. I have to show you their most recent one, because it’s a hoot! Anyone who is familiar with the viral marketing campaign that Old Spice has been doing with their “Old Spice Guy” will really get a kick out of this video. And be sure to watch for the bloopers at the end – they’re just as good! Great job DKA!
