With all of Kelowna’s outdoorsy offerings and natural beauty, it is sometimes easy to give the lion’s share of our blog “real estate” to that face of our city. But then winter arrives and many of us look to what kinds of indoor entertainment we can enjoy in Kelowna. So I thought I’d share some of our top picks for indoor entertainment with you today – I hope you will come away with some ideas for the coming months!

Get creative with kids – Check out the Kelowna Art Gallery’s Family Sundays, every Sunday through the winter from 1 pm to 4 pm. This program offers families a chance to get creative with hands on activities and instruction. Coming up, they will be offering a holiday-themed Family Sunday, with creating beautiful Christmas cards as the activity of the day.

Adrenalyn City! – learn to boulder and rock climb, take a Zumba class, enjoy a drop-in swim, or bring your Tasmanian Devil to blow off steam in the EnergyCube – all at Kelowna’s EnergyPlex. Encompassing a warm water swimming pool, an indoor playground, a fun rock climbing tower and a recreational gymnastics gym; the EnergyPlex was designed to appeal to a broad range of children with endless scope for parental involvement. There are also lessons in swimming, gymnastics and adult and children’s fitness classes.

Live Entertainment, Gaming, Dining – Downtown Kelowna at the Lake City Casino the options for entertainment are so numerous that you might wonder where to start first! Should you sidle-up to one of the 500 slot machines, or head over to a table to play Blackjack, Dragon Bonus Mini Baccarat, Four Card Poker, Texas Shoot out Poker, and the new Texas Hold’em Bonus, or even Electronic Roulette? Then there’s the new Grove Bistro & Lounge featuring live weekend entertainment. The Grove is open for a late breakfast, lunch, or dinner every day of the week. Upcoming weekend entertainment includes John Noren, Sherman Doucette, Steppin’ Out, JC Wilson, and Robert Fine and Soul Remedy. The live entertainment begins at 9 pm and is typically free of charge (unless otherwise indicated).

Dinner Theatre – The Kelowna Actors Studio is about to kick off their next show, Annie! The show runs from November 30 to December 17 and for me, it brings back memories of my childhood and watching Annie, the movie. I absolutely can’t wait to see what twists and turns the Kelowna Actors Studio gives to this favourite classic. This theatre company is known for trying new things and experimenting a bit – and it is always amazing. I will make sure to blog once I’ve been to the show. Check out their season of fantastic shows, and be sure to build one (or several) into your schedule this winter.

While you’re in the neighbourhood, Kelowna’s Cultural District is positively packed with stimulating places. Take for instance the Rotary Centre for the Arts, where you will find regular workshops, classes, drop-in activities, and shows that will put you in touch with your creative side.
