A Twist on Valentine’s Day in Kelowna

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’ll bet you think I’m about to give you a tip on where to get handcrafted chocolate for your sweetie, or special date ideas. Well this year my Valentine’s focus for this blog is for singles, because I heard some very neat news from RauDZ Regional Table on Water St in Kelowna about their twist on Valentine’s Day, celebrating a “singles awareness holiday” at the restaurant this weekend…

To mark the occasion, RauDZ is offering a specially-tailored menu, themed cocktails, and gifts from neighbouring retailers like Blonde, Posh, X.ten.sion 207, and Socialite. The celebrations will begin tonight and continue through Monday, February 14.
Chef Rod Butters and Audrey Surrao (innovative and intrepid as they are) have split the menu into 2 camp: a Mars menu, and a Venus menu. They have come up with some clever and fun themed cocktails to match the menu options. The result is an evening that will make all their patrons feel special on Valentines Day, promising “no red roses or candlelight will be in sight!”

Want an example of the Venus menus? RauDZ suggests you start your evening with an “Orang-a Gonna Put a Ring On It” cocktail featuring Blood Orange puree and finishing the meal with a dessert of Raspberry & White Chocolate Mousse. The Mars side of the menu has the guys commiserating with a “Daniel’s Doghouse” cocktail featuring Jack Daniels, followed by Brined Sloping Hills Pork Rack Chop with Whiskey BBQ Jus.
