Outdoor Skating in Kelowna at Stuart Park Rink

It was worth the wait, because the verdict is in, and skaters LOVE the rink at Stuart Park in Kelowna across from City Hall.

It has been so well received, in fact, that since opening, City Staff have approved an extension to the rink’s hours (8 am to 11 pm daily rather than to 10 pm); have requested the approval of a concession to be opened; and have implemented a hotline that people can call in order to confirm the rink’s status in the event of warmer weather.

That phone number, in case you have the skating-bug now that you’ve read this, is 250-469-8800 (extension 4).

And who can blame skaters for falling hard for Stuart Park Rink? How many other outdoor rinks rival this one in terms of beautiful surroundings? This rink is right at the waterfront boardwalk, overlooking Okanagan Lake, the Kelowna marina, and presided-over by the dazzling statue of a Bear. As far as settings go, this one is pretty special.

So if you’ve made a resolution to become more active for 2011, here’s your chance to fulfill that resolution while having fun. It’s absolutely free, so lace up those skates, bring your camera, and enjoy some winter fun!
