Can you believe it’s already Labour Day weekend?! Yes indeed. I’ve noticed that fall is sneaking in, ever so slowly. This got us at Tourism Kelowna thinking about how we could stretch out the remaining days of summer, and the consensus was: a summery drink on a patio. So without further ado, here are some of the patios which top the list of places to extend summer in Kelowna…

Hotel Eldorado Boardwalk – the Boardwalk at the Hotel Eldorado on Cook Rd is everything a boardwalk should be: the dock’s wood is weathered and rustic, the scenery is beautiful, boats come and go, and you’ll find every manner of attire from beach clothing to business wear. It doesn’t hurt that the bar makes a killer Crantini, and that Chef Michael Lyon (as seen on the Food Network show “Chef*Off!”) prepares some mouthwatering share-zies. www.eldoradokelowna.com.

Manteo Resort’s Wild Apple Restaurant – down the Boardwalk from the Hotel Eldorado is the stylish and sleek Wild Apple Restaurant. Heading up the kitchen here is Chef Bernard Casavant, a renowned and well-respected BC chef. The lake views here are expansive, and a patio seat gives you a front row ticket to watch those dare-devil kite surfers skim the water at Rotary Beach. Bouchons Bistro – This elegant French bistro serves up traditional French fare with an extensive wine list (that has won awards) and a fantastic intimate patio looking out onto Sunset Drive. Can you feel any more Parisian in Kelowna? I think not! Try the delicious mussels to start, or for a more substancial seafood entree, the Bouillabaise. Summerhill Pyramid Winery’s Sunset Bistro – Who can forget a winery patio? This might go down as the quintessential Kelowna summer dining experience. The views of Kelowna, the lake, and the vineyard from this patio are a photographer’s dream. The restaurant features 100% wild and organic dishes, many of the ingredients picked fresh from the winery’s organic garden. What to drink with all this yummy food? Sparkling wine, of course!
