Dragon Boats Race This Weekend

Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! And a steady beat of a drum. Eighteen paddlers giving it their all, a drummer, and a steerer calling directions – they all work together in harmony, and it’s a sight to behold! This weekend Kelowna will host the Kelowna International Dragon Boat Festival. For the 50+ teams attending and the 4500+ participants and friends, the event is a thrill – just as it is for the rest of us as spectators…

What a rush! Dragon Boaters race to the finish!

The festival begins today and will take place in various races on Okanagan Lake throughout the weekend at Waterfront Park and Tugboat Bay. For spectators, the fun is free to watch, and the grounds will be the site of entertainment, a beer tent, food vendors, and festivities.

On Saturday evening, the headlining concert will feature Andrew Allen and Emerson Drive, playing at the Island Stage in Waterfront Park between 6 pm and 10 pm. This is a seperately ticketed event, so you can purchase your tickets at www.selectyourtickets.com or on location on Saturday evening.

It promises to be a weekend packed with excitement and energy, so come on down to Waterfront Park and check it out!

Ummm 57 teams but we had lots of fun today :-) Come and watch the finals tomorrow!

This is one of the best competitions i know. Because this is real team play. One mistake or one weak point in team and all get screwed.
