Tour Guru Takes Vacation
Many of you have followed our weekly video series, The Tour Guru, created in a partnership between Tourism Kelowna and Kelowna.com. Thanks for calling or emailing your ideas to me and for wanting to get involved! We wanted to let you know that we will be taking a break from further episodes until later in the year and will let you know when we resume the series. If you want to see past episodes, you can see them on this blog under the Tourism Videos category.

At RauDZ, Gary Moore shoots an episode of The Tour Guru with Chef Rod Butters and me.
The big news is that the series’ videographer, Gary Moore, is currently in Haiti. He has been called to cover some very important matters, as you can imagine. We wish him safety and fortitude on his assignment and a good return home.
The other bit of news is that I’ll be in Vancouver during the Olympics to volunteer at the BC Media Centre. I’m really looking forward to meeting the journalists who will converge on Vancouver to cover the many human interest stories and fascinating angles that bring a place alive to the world during the Games. During this time, I’ll blog regularly about my experiences and hope to do Kelowna proud.
We expect that many members of the media will want to travel to Kelowna to gather their own stories about the hometown of such athletes as Kelsey Serwa (Women’s Ski Cross) and Steve Omischl (Aerials Freestyle Skiing). Tourism Kelowna will be there to assist them in their search for ideas, interviews, and experiences. Keep an eye out for international media in February and March, and be sure to welcome them to Kelowna!
The Torch came through Kelowna this week to an enormous party! About 20,000 people were in City Park to welcome it and watch runners along the way. In the crowd was Sweden’s Women’s Hockey Team who are in Kelowna for pre-Olympic training. For them, the moment was huge. We wish all the athletes a wonderful Games, and Go Canada Go!
