Mulled Wine Tips from the Experts
There are lots of classic holiday drinks – think eggnog, hot cocoa, champagne… but one of the most popular is surely mulled wine. Especially in Kelowna, where wine is plentiful and lots of us like to spend our vacations with active outdoor pursuits like skiing, cross-country skiing, or on a winter hike – that’s when coming home to mulled wine is at its finest. So in preparation for our feasting, I thought I’d pay a visit to the Queens of Mulled Wine over at Discover Wines, a specialty wine store dedicated to our local libations. The video below shows what I learned from Tracy and Suzanne at this gem of a shop.
Tracy Gray and Suzanne Mick, owners of Discover Wines, are wine entrepreneurs. In 2008 they were recognized by the Women’s Entreprise Centre as one of the 100 New Pioneer Women Entrepreneurs. Their store is known for expert wine advice, friendly service, and complimentary tastings as you enter. During the whole month of December, they have mulled wine on the go so you can taste it and find out from them how to make it. They even have this and other wine recipes on their website.
Their store also features specialty products and locally made items like spreads, honeys, cheeses, and the like. They have great gift ideas for wine-lovers in your family – like these cute wine hats and scarves featured in this video.
