Indie Book Store, Diana Gabaldon, and literary things
All you Diana Gabaldon fans out there: you’ll want to make your way to Kelowna on October 18 for her book signing of the newest book in her Outlander series, An Echo in the Bone! I found out about this book signing from a friend of mine who is a fan of this author, and informed me that she has a serious fan base of women who will travel to attend her signings. In light of this, I dug in a little to find out more, and have quite some findings to report!

One fan of hers blogs, “Tuesday night I had an opportunity to attend a book signing by my favorite author, Diana Galbadon…I’ve attended two other book signings by her… The signing Tuesday night was completely different from what I had previous attended. To start with it was at the Biltmore Resort and it was there because they expected a large crowd. Large crowd is a complete understatement. There must have been 1500-1800 people…”
Wow! That’s amazing. I am definitely going to check this out myself. I think I may have discovered a new must-read. For one thing, Mosaic Books is behind this, which is always a good sign. Bookish-types know that independent book stores are a really special thing, and Mosaic is certainly a stronghold in this city as far as shelf-browsing goes. The event is being held at the Kelowna Community Theatre (judging by the crowds this author draw, I can now see why this will be a must). Here are the details:
