Family Summer Fun Ideas from Okanagan Life Magazine

I’ve been meaning to blog about this article I came across in my recent issue of Okanagan Life Magazine, and today is the perfect day to do so. Why today? Because this afternoon’s Juicy Tips on 103.9 The Juice with Ken Allan Joonyer (5:10 p.m.)  will feature beaches around Kelowna and the article includes some additional great beaches. And because it’ll be gorgeous this weekend in the low 30s.

This article by Deanna Kent-McDonald in Okanagan Life Magazine is full of great family fun ideas. Good job Deanna and happy reading!

No question we’ve got great beaches and this article points out so many other cool things to do in Kelowna. One point I think the author missed was a mention of the fun you can have visiting farms like Kelowna Land and Orchard (tractor-drawn wagon tours, high-climbing goats, farm store and Raven Ridge Cidery); McMillan Farms (petting zoo, hayrides, corn maze in late August and pumpkins in October); and Carmelis Goat Cheese Artisan (see the goats that give the milk that makes the cheese, tasty samples and killer gelato). Check ‘em out.

Thanks Laurie. You’re right: farm visits are a real bonus for us. And as you mentioned – there are lots of different kinds of farms: orchards, goat cheese, honey, alpaca, and so on. You mentioned Kelowna Land & Orchard Co. (KLO) whose website is http://www.k-l-o.com and Carmelis Goat Cheese Artisan whose website is http://www.carmelisgoatcheese.com. These are great suggestions and yes, the gelato at Carmelis is absolutely to-die-for!!
